It would be great with audio effects when answering a question, level up, timer ticking down, getting medals, etc.
There is an audio tag support in HTML5

This is a great idea! We'll definitely add sound effects to the game as soon as we have a chance to prioritize it.
Do you think HTML5 sound support is the way to go, or should we try to use a Flash solution? (We currently don't use Flash at all.)
Thanks for your input! -

Agree, HTML5 audio is the way to go. You can view/hear some samples at http://www.storiesinflight.com/html5/...
The challenge is to find the right sounds that doesn't get annoying after playing some time... :) -

Yes, HTML5 would be the best way to go, since you have avoided using Flash since the start.

Hate the idea, I usually blast that other Swedish start-up, Spotify, while playing planeto. It would have to be optional if you proceed with it.
-
Fear not. It will absolutely be optional.

Sveinn, to hate someones idea isn't very contructive. I understand the anxiety you feel about the sound effects, but we can make sure that we would keep it optional if implemented.
-
True, Sophie, but I'm not trying to hate on anyone, it was more a figure of speech. we're all trying to make the product better, right. Sorry if anyone feels I was too abrasive.
But anyway, the game is lagging enough as is, without the added bandwidth burden of sound effects. -

No problem. Nothing will be added before we've solved the lagging. Thanks for your feedback, we'll keep it in mind! It's always good to have two sides of the coin in terms of development thoughts.

If it is optional, it would be great. If you make user-selectable soundschemes (like what themes or skins are for visuals, but for sound) it would be even more cool. I would be happy to make a set of sound effects and jingles for you if you want a fan contribution, it was my profession a few years ago. :)

Edit: For example, there could be a default soundset with very general and basic sounds ("bling" for correct answers, "meep" for incorrect ones), one soundset inspired by TV-shows (cheers for medals, applause for correct answers, boohs or laughter for broken streaks) and one with voices (based on user language). It would for sure be a bit unique to allow players to make (and share) their own sounds and thereby customize Planeto to make it a bit more social. Certainly a fun party trick to launch a customized soundset...
Just letting ideas flow now. Adding default sounds would be a good start, and I would be happy to make a suggestion for you if you want to get it done quickly and for free. -

In my very humble opinion HTML5 is absolutely the way to go. And I think Peter agree with me on that one.
